Another 'Flashback Friday' photo from last year about this same time, when Nik and I were taking a late spring hike along the Simmons Woods boardwalk. This year the marsh and trees are no where near as green as this picture shows them to be... but at least the sky is blue and the sun is shining!

SkyWatch Friday: Flight
A Southwest Airliner landing at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport.

(Note: According to SkyWatch Friday, it's "National Joe Day," and coincidentally my middle name is "Jo" - spelled a bit differently, but I think it works!)

Skywatch Friday: Westward Ho!
A "front" of clouds moving through provided a spectacular sunset view (taken while facing west on Capitol Drive in Pewaukee).

SkyWatch Friday: Sundown at Simmons Woods
Simmons Woods sunset with a silhouette of the old "look-out" tree. Has a spooky, Halloween feel, doesn't it?

SkyWatch Friday: Pewaukee Woodland Sunset
Our recent stretch of sunny days continue to melt into beautiful sunsets! This was taken near the wooded fields of an abandoned farm on Lindsay Road in Pewaukee.

Billowing Clouds
While driving home from work the other day, there were white clouds billowing up in the distance. Behind me the sky was threatening to storm, and you could see the contrast reflected in the glass towers ahead.

Whoosh! SkyWatch Friday

Near my work there is a small shopping area with a few restaurants, shops, and a hotel. Driving over there for lunch one day I noticed the clouds appeared to be "whooshing" across the sky, leaving a trail behind.

SkyWatch Friday: Sunset Over Lambeau
This view was taken from the ramp at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin while walking up to our seats at the Packers-Bears football game on September 13, 2012. (The Packers won, 23-10! Yay!)

Better and Better
The sunsets around here lately just keep getting better and better! I love the reflection on the blanket of clouds above.

X Marks the Spot: SkyWatch Friday
These contrails aren't really that unusual, but it still amazes me every time I see them. I'm always wondering just how close they really are as they pass over and under each other headed in opposite directions. If you click to enlarge the photo, you can also just barely see the crescent moon near the top left-hand of the "x".

SkyWatch Friday: Fleece

The sun has been setting earlier and earlier each day this month, reminding us that fall is on the way. These fleecy clouds caught the evening glow in just the right way.

Incoming!

There are several pairs of Sand Hill Cranes that frequent our rural neighborhood each year. This pair is fond of the fields located next to the farmette in yesterday's post. The image is a little blurry because I had to zoom in quickly once I heard their throaty, garbled warble above me as they came in for a landing. Highly entertaining birds!

Squall Line

The clouds show a distinct squall line as a thunderstorm moves into our neighborhood from the Northwest.

The Sky is Alive

In early April we spent 5 days in Savannah, Georgia. The historic district boasts amazing classic architecture and dozens of beautiful park squares. One of the most dramatic sites in the area are the huge "live oak" trees, hanging with wispy Spanish moss. This tree sprawled nearly across the whole park.
An aside: We are still waiting for our trees to bud out here....[Impatiently folding arms & tapping foot!]

Two Towers Sunset

The reflective glass of the two bank towers on Hwy. 45 and Good Hope Road in Milwaukee often displays a colorful sunset photo opportunity. This was taken as I was leaving work one evening. The Hilton Garden Inn is in the foreground.
