A "front" of clouds moving through provided a spectacular sunset view (taken while facing west on Capitol Drive in Pewaukee).

SkyWatch Friday: Candle Lanterns

This young family was lighting and letting sail several billowy candle lantern balloons over Pewaukee Lake this evening.  So pretty against the deep blue of the sunset. (Sorry for the grainy photo - this was taken with  my shaky cell-phone!) See more "SkyWatch Friday" feature photos here.

SkyWatch Friday: Sundown at Simmons Woods

Simmons Woods sunset with a silhouette of the old "look-out" tree.  Has a spooky, Halloween feel, doesn't it?

SkyWatch Friday: Nagawicka Lake

Every Friday night during the summer, there is a traditional midwestern fish fry dinner at a local restaurant called "Seven Seas." Located on Nagawicka Lake in Waukesha County, the dining patio has a lovely view of the sunset over the lake. They also have a large pier where boaters can dock their crafts while they eat, and this photo shows a number of boats coming in for a landing.

More Sunset Clouds

I should just call my blog "Pewaukee Clouds" because we've had so many unusual and colorful clouds illuminated by our sunsets lately. These two photos were snapped with my cell phone out of the side window of our car (while my husband was driving!) on the way home from a local restaurant.  Almost looks like an explosion of fire in the distance.

Sunset over Pewaukee Lake

We had one of our gorgeous spring days yesterday - 70's and sunny.  If only all days in Wisconsin could be like this!  To take advantage of it, we took a walk down by Pewaukee Lake to enjoy the people-watching and the sunset.  Love the silhouettes of the little kids playing on the beach.

Reservoir Pond Sunset: SkyWatch Friday

This reservoir pond sits in the midst of our nearby shopping center.  Beyond the far edge is a little subdivision of houses and the Simmons Woods trails.

SkyWatch Friday: Sunset Over Lambeau

This view was taken from the ramp at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin while walking up to our seats at the Packers-Bears football game on September 13, 2012. (The Packers won, 23-10! Yay!)

Skywatch Friday: Dining at Seven Seas

Every Friday night during the summer, there is a traditional midwestern fish fry dinner at a local restaurant called "Seven Seas." Located on Nagawicka Lake in Waukesha County, the dining patio has a lovely view of the sunset over the lake. They also have a large pier where boaters can dock their crafts while they eat, so casual attire like board shorts, deck shoes, and sundresses are all acceptable.

Skywatch Friday: Cotton Candy?

A recent sunset reflecting off the billowing clouds made me think of pink cotton candy. Or, perhaps you see something else in these clouds?

SkyWatch Friday: An Evening at the Beach

Even as the sun sets, young families take advantage of the lovely weather on the beach at Pewaukee Lake as long as they can. Winter comes too soon around these parts!

Another Mississippi River Sunset

Taken looking northwest over the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin, from Riverside Park.  The clouds look like they are boiling up a storm.
