The sun has been setting earlier and earlier each day this month, reminding us that fall is on the way. These fleecy clouds caught the evening glow in just the right way.
The sunset illuminated some thunderclouds in the distance. In the foreground is one of the many microwave towers that are scattered about our community. Perhaps they are sending radio waves to the stars? ;-p
One of the many farm pumpkin stands that dot Wisconsin during the fall months was offering free kittens along with the produce! I almost took this adorable gray and white kitten named Zoey home with me. Not sure how Phoebe and Nik would have felt about that... :-) The stand is over on Silver Spring Road. By "more" they mean squash, gourds, Indian corn, straw bales, decorative corn stalks, and a small variety of home-made canned goods and crafts. It's also a popular place for local grade school kids to take a hay ride and wander the fields to "pick" their own pumpkins.
We're in Arizona this week, so I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post. But I do have this unusual photo of a local garage that I pass each day on my way to work. It was transformed from a single to a two-car with an interesting arbor over the front door, along with a "faux" weather-vane tower. The shadows are quite dramatic in the morning sun.
This old vine covered silo is set way back from the road, so I can't get a very close photo - but there is a little red "Wishing Well" set right next to it. I've seen an older woman out there tending to her garden and also in the winter she sets out a "creche" with an actual baby doll with a spotlight on the manger.... (kind of creepy really.)
In any event hope all you Moms out there have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
Coming upon this behemoth of a building on Silver Spring Rd. in Menomonee Falls is kind of like sneaking up on the Wicked Witch's castle in the Wizard of Oz. Huge, dark, and foreboding... it's the Kohl's Department Store headquarters. It just seems so out of place in this suburban rural setting.
This little abandoned cabin stands next to an old farmhouse on Silver Spring Rd. The barn has been torn down and the pasture converted to a McMansion subdivision. So goes the world. Note the woodpecker knotholes above the front window. On the left-hand side of the photo below you can see it still has a tiny outhouse - albeit, doorless!
