Smell-O-Vision

Seriously - if you have never had the chance to inhale the intoxicating perfume of the milkweed flower, you are missing something amazing.  I wish I could share the air around this bloom with you.  It's no wonder that the Monarch Butterflies go crazy over it!

Grand-Dogger

This is Harriet, my daughter's four-year old Cockapoo.  She is delightfully energetic, yet was being unusually well-behaved and patient during our photography session.  Saturday was warm and humid, and it was quite a walk down to the Washington Highlands creek, so I believe it took a little wind out of her sails.  She was just happy to rest for a while on the cool rocks along the creek before our hike home.

Stalking the Wild Strawberry

Nik and I stumbled upon a hidden patch of tiny wild strawberries while walking the back perimeter of nearby Balmer Park. They are just adorable, but not very tasty - kind of bland and spongy.  Nonetheless, they make a super-cute garnish atop a frosty Margarita or a glass of lemonade!

More Sunset Clouds

I should just call my blog "Pewaukee Clouds" because we've had so many unusual and colorful clouds illuminated by our sunsets lately. These two photos were snapped with my cell phone out of the side window of our car (while my husband was driving!) on the way home from a local restaurant.  Almost looks like an explosion of fire in the distance.

Billowing Clouds

While driving home from work the other day, there were white clouds billowing up in the distance.  Behind me the sky was threatening to storm, and you could see the contrast reflected in the glass towers ahead.

Clematis Bloom

I've been playing around with "Instagram" features recently and liked how this one turned out.  It's a clematis flower bloom from our patio.  The vine is doing quite nicely this year. Happy Summer!

June Theme Day -The Beauty of Decay: Shrek!

Life and beauty spring from the depths of decay.  An old dead tree stump is the host to these budding shelf mushrooms.  They remind me of the ogre Shrek, with his two little horn-like ears on the top of his head!

No Soup for You!

Our local Sendik's grocery store is selling the soup made famous by the original "soup nazi" who was mocked in the Seinfeld series. I haven't tried it yet (they are rather pricey), but there are several varieties and they all sound pretty good.
