Staghorn Sumac

These hard, dry Sumac berries overwintered from last season. The medium sized shrubby trees produce multiple stalks of these pretty dusty red clusters. They are great for dried flower arrangements during the fall and winter. Sumac is sometimes used as a middle-east flavoring/herb. In early America, a pleasant, lemonade-type drink was made from the berries, although I don't know if I'd go through the effort to try this now!
